SFE Showcases Flavor Fest to GISD

On November 30, Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE) and the GISD Child Nutrition Department presented an array of new and exciting food and beverage items for GISD students to sample. Students from Forbes Middle School, Mitchell Elementary and Wagner Middle school were invited to participate in the event.

Flavor Fest is an opportunity for students to taste test new products from food vendors partnered with the district and provide their feedback. Based on the student feedback from Flavor Fest, items have the potential to be future menu items in GISD.

“Flavor Fest is a fun event because it amplifies the student voice,” Dustin Seymour, SFE Corporate Area Chef, said. “We really want to allow student feedback to drive our menus, and what better way than allowing them to try new food items and concepts that we haven’t showcased in the district yet and get their feedback. The student is our client and allowing them to be the decision makers for their future food options is such an awesome and rewarding experience.”
