Georgetown ISD Board Appoints New Trustee to Place Four

At Monday night’s board workshop, the Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Laura Kincheloe to serve in Place Four following the resignation of Trustee Stephanie Blanck.

Kincheloe is a nurse, educator and lifelong Georgetown resident. After graduating from Georgetown High School in 2008, Kincheloe went on to earn her associate of applied science in nursing, her bachelor’s in nursing, and her master’s in nursing education from Angelo State University before completing her doctorate in leadership in nursing education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Kincheloe’s work has focused on strengthening systems that support professionals serving children, families, and communities. In recognition of her advocacy for school health and her statewide support of school nurses, Kincheloe was honored with the Texas School Nurses Organization President’s Award in 2025.

“Dr. Kincheloe is deeply engaged with the Georgetown community and serves as a strong advocate for public education,” Scherer said. “With her professional expertise in education and health policy, she brings a unique and vital perspective to the needs of GISD students, staff, and families.”

Kincheloe has served as an active member of several Georgetown ISD committees, including the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), the 2024 Bond Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), and in 2022, she contributed to the district’s Strategic Direction Planning Group.

“Growing up, I consistently found support, stability, and encouragement through caring teachers and community members in Georgetown,” Kincheloe said. “It shaped my belief in the power of public education, and I am honored for this new opportunity to serve GISD.”

Kincheloe also serves as a member of the Georgetown Family YMCA Board.

Laura and her husband Travis have four children in GISD schools. Travis is a teacher and coach at Georgetown High School.
