Georgetown ISD Announces New Chief of Communications

The Georgetown Independent School District announced Dr. Maggie Dominguez as the new Chief of Communications at a board meeting on Tuesday night. 

Dominguez comes to Georgetown ISD with more than 15 years of professional communications experience in higher education and K-12 public education. Most recently, Dominguez was the executive director of communications for Boerne ISD where she served as the lead communicator and spokesperson for the school district. 

Prior to that, Dominguez supported strategic communications, public relations and crisis communications as the communications manager for human resources at the University of Michigan’s Medical Center. 

“Dr. Dominguez comes to us with a strong background at both the University and Public School level,” said Superintendent Dr. Devin Padavil. “She is a skilled communicator, and we are so excited to welcome her to the Georgetown ISD team.” 

Dominguez earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in marketing from University of Incarnate Word. She holds a master’s degree in Composition with a minor in English from Texas Tech University and a doctoral degree in rhetoric from Louisiana State University.

In her new role, Dominguez will oversee internal and external communications, build media relations, support crisis management and coordinate partnerships between the community and school district, among other duties. 

Dominguez and her husband Dominic recently moved to the Georgetown area with their two children. Their youngest, Oliver, is 4 months old. Their eldest, Jackson, will continue his first grade year as a Wolf Ranch Elementary Pioneer. In her free time, Dominguez enjoys being outdoors with her family, cooking, and exploring Georgetown.

Dominguez will begin her new role immediately.
