Georgetown ISD Announces New Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership
The Georgetown Independent School District announced Dr. Rhonda McWilliams as the new Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership at a July board meeting.
McWilliams enters this role with over 40 years of experience in education, including recently serving as Interim School Principal at Forbes Middle School and Mitchell Elementary School in Georgetown ISD. McWilliams’ extensive educational career includes roles such as classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, chief human resources officer, executive director of student affairs, and area and assistant superintendent in various districts.
McWilliams holds a bachelor’s degree in business education from Stephen F. Austin University, as well as a master’s degree in occupational education, a master’s degree in counseling and guidance, and doctorate degree in educational leadership from the University of Houston.
In her new role, McWilliams will be responsible for supporting campus improvement practices and supporting instructional leadership, Special Education and Dyslexia, multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) initiatives and Early Childhood Education. She will work closely with assigned directors and coordinators to ensure services are aligned with the district’s mission, vision, beliefs and goals.
“My passion and expertise are in leadership development, and I am honored that I get the opportunity to support GISD leaders by focusing on trusting relationships, instruction, and closing student achievement gaps,” McWilliams said.
McWilliams lives in Austin and enjoys spending time with family and friends at Lake Travis.
She will assume her new role immediately in preparation for the upcoming school year.
