Four GISD SeaPerch Teams Compete at International Competition
On May 31, eleven young engineers from Georgetown set off to compete in the International Seaperch Competition at the University of Maryland. After a successful run at regionals, these students had qualified to compete at the next level against 145 other SeaPerch teams from across the world.

All four teams improved on their obstacle course times from regionals.
“The SeaPerch International competition celebrates the power of innovation, teamwork, and engineering, and I could not be more proud of each GISD team and coach for the way they represented the district, their school and their families,” Secondary Science Curriculum Coordinator Paige Hoellen said. “Their creativity, determination, and collaborative spirit showcased the very best of what our students are capable of achieving on a global stage.”
