2025 Top Ten: East View HIgh School
As seniors across GISD prepare to enter the next chapter of their lives, we are highlighting the 2025 Top Ten graduates at East View High School, Georgetown High School and Richarte High School. Kayla Frazier - Valedictorian
What are your plans after high school graduation?
I will attend UT Austin and major in Communications and Advertising.
What activities were you involved in at EVHS?
I was in the Patriot Band, Advanced Floral Design, NHS, BSU, and Spanish Honor Society.
Who is someone that has impacted you over the course of your school career?
Mrs. Scholtz because she has been my biggest supporter and motivator. She is always very uplifting, and I find her to be very insightful. Additionally, Coach L (who left last year) made me feel confident in his APUSH class over subjects that I usually feel lost in.
Maissa Pozo - Salutatorian
What are your plans after high school graduation?
I will attend Texas A&M to study Biomedical Sciences.
What activities were you involved in at EVHS?
I played on varsity volleyball all four years, served as class president, and was a member of NHS, HOSA, NEXT College Ready & Career program, and have completed over 150+ hours of community service.
Who is someone or what is something you are thankful for?
I am beyond grateful for my parents. My dad works so hard to give me the life they never had, and my mom is so motivating to me. I know I wouldn't have been able to achieve everything I did without them.
Savannah Navarrette - No. 3
What are your plans after high school graduation?
I will attend UT Austin and major in Biology.
What activities were you involved in at EVHS?
I was in Theatre, Musical Theatre, Mu Alpha Theta, NHS, and Academy 4.
Who is someone that has impacted you over the course of your school career?
Mr. Jon DeMitchell. He taught me not only how to be a leader, but how to be comfortable speaking out and being unapologetically myself. He has been my theater director for all 4 years of high school, and has always cared for and encouraged my growth. I wouldn't be the person I am today without his influence.
And Mr. Garcia. He was my AP Language and Composition teacher during my Junior year, and he made me feel confident in my academic and writing abilities. Other than being an amazing teacher, he is also continually supportive of my high school activities and is always sure to say hi to me in the hallways. His influence has helped me grow in my academic achievements!
Isis Maldonado Nino - No. 4
What are your plans after high school graduation?
I will attend UT Austin to study Biology.
What activities were you involved in at EVHS?
I was president of the NEXT College and Career Readiness program, and I was involved in NHS, Upward Bound at Southwestern and Spanish Honor Society.
Who is someone that has impacted you over the course of your school career?
Mrs. Brown because she was just a really understanding teacher and helped expand my knowledge about the opportunities around me.
Who is someone or what is something you are thankful for?
Something I am thankful for is the help that the counselors and teachers provided me when I needed it.
Jael Schmidt - No. 5
What are your plans after high school graduation?
I will attend UT Austin to study Government.
What activities were you involved in at EVHS?
I was in Band, Tennis, Teen Court, French Club, French National Honor Society, National Honor Society, Girls state, Mock Trial, SeaPerch, Criminal Justice Club and Jazz band.
What is one of your proudest accomplishments from your time at EVHS?
Becoming a lead senior attorney in teen court and becoming Trombone section leader
Who is someone or what is something you are thankful for?
I'm thankful for my best friend and all the encouragement she's given me.
Alan Nguyen - No. 6
What are your plans after high school graduation?
I will attend a university and pursue a degree in Accounting and/or Business.
What activities were you involved in at EVHS?
Track and field, cross country, chess club and PALs.
Who is someone that has impacted you over the course of your school career?
Mr. McLane is one teacher that has had a positive impact on me throughout high school & has been more like an older sibling to me than anything. Throughout the last three years I’ve known him, he's not only shared interests but helped me understand concepts that’ll be useful to me in the future. College honors, stock market, taxes… I’ve learned so much from him about adulthood. Along with this, his class has always been a place where I know I could talk and be comfortable.

What are your plans after high school graduation?
I will be attending the University of Vermont to study Biomedical Engineering.
Sophia Nicholas - No. 8
What are your plans after high school graduation?
I will be attending Texas A&M to study Public Health.
What activities were you involved in at EVHS?
I was president of Mu Alpha Theta, Chairman of Senate Affairs at Girls State, and a Junior Creed Speaking Competitor. I have been to state for veterinary medicine, and I raise puppies to be guide dogs for the blind, which I will continue to do at A&M.
What is one of your proudest accomplishments from your time at EVHS?
One of my favorite accomplishments was making to state finals for high school rodeo.

I will be attending UT Austin to study Biology in the Pre-Med program.
