These guidelines are intended to provide clarity regarding the use of AI tools and engines with our GISD Branding, including district and campus assets. While we understand the AI environment is constantly changing, we encourage staff strongly to follow the provided guidelines to help ensure our brand identity remains consistent.
-
Branding includes but is not limited to district/campus logos, colors and typography. GISD Brand in particular refers to the assets that make up the “look and feel” of our district. Our distinct district “voice” is a product of our brand identity.
Importantly, our brand is also how our district is perceived by our community.
-
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the modern context refers to the development of computational systems capable of performing tasks that typically require human cognition, such as reasoning, learning from data models and enhanced problem-solving. It is a broad umbrella term spanning various subfields, most notably Generative AI and Machine Learning. Generative AI in particular is of concern in regards to brand management.
-
AI that generates content such as images, audio, or video based on patterns learned from massive media libraries. Generative media is created via prompts from the user.
-
GISD strongly advises the following:
Do not use AI to generate or modify district or campus logos. This is important to maintain our district brand identity. Reminder, please follow our branding guidelines when using our assets. Guidelines can be found here. (link!)
Do not generate content that mimics trademarked content. Such as another entity's branding style or use of trademark assets (e.g. Disney, Nintendo, etc.)
Do not use AI to fully generate flyers, documents or other informational materials using GISD brand assets.
Using services such as Adobe or Canva that include AI tools with our brand assets is permitted.
-
GISD strongly suggests the following in regards to AI usage with likeness and GISD media assets:
Do not generate the likeness of GISD students or staff for photographs, video or other media assets.
Do not feed GISD media materials including photos, videos, or brand assets to AI models.
-
We encourage transparency when presenting materials created using AI tools. When appropriate label AI-generated content or AI-assisted materials. Examples of clear disclosure statements include:
Generated with AI assistance
Created using AI tools
AI-generated content
AI should support, not replace, a staff member’s judgment and creativity.
-
Currently the district approves the use of Google Gemini as an AI assistant.
