GISD Celebrates Walk and Roll to School Day October 8
At a city council meeting last week, the Georgetown City Council issued a proclamation declaring October 8 as Walk and Roll to School Day. Elementary students in Georgetown will join those from all over the U.S. walking, biking, or rolling to school. The annual event aims to increase student physical activity, reduce traffic congestion, and help the environment.
"Walk and Roll to School Day is about more than the journey, it’s about building healthy habits, connecting with our community, and starting the day on a positive note," said Superintendent Devin Padavil. "It also highlights our focus on safety, and we're grateful for city staff and emergency responders joining us for this event."
The event is being organized by Georgetown ISD in partnership with the City of Georgetown. School staff and members of the Georgetown Police and Fire departments will be in school zones to greet families and promote safety.
