On May 10, 2022, GISD celebrated employees at the annual Employee Recognition Ceremony, held at the Klett Performing Arts Center.

During the ceremony, 20-year and 25-year employees were recognized, as well as Cooper Elementary School teacher Susan Morrow for 30 years of service, and Frost Elementary School custodian Danny Ybarra for 35 years of service. 44 GISD retirees were also recognized. 

There were five Employee of the Year categories, and the finalists were as follows:
