GISD Named District of Distinction by Career & Technical Association of Texas

Georgetown ISD has been named a District of Distinction by the Career & Technical Association of Texas (CTAT), recognizing the district’s robust, high-quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that prepare students for success in college, career, and life.

The CTAT District of Distinction designation is awarded to school districts that demonstrate outstanding commitment to CTE, meeting the needs of students, local industries, and employers through innovative programming and partnerships. Honorees make up less than six percent of school districts in Texas, serving as models of excellence across the state, showcasing best practices and driving progress in workforce education.

“We’re honored to receive this recognition from CTAT,” said Bretton Schulz, Director of Career and Technical Education for Georgetown ISD. “This award reflects the dedication of our teachers, students, and community partners who work together to create pathways that lead to real-world success. Our programs are built around relevance, innovation, and opportunity — and our students are the proof that it works.”

Georgetown ISD offers a wide range of CTE courses and pathways, giving students opportunities to explore careers in fields such as engineering, health science, culinary arts, business, agriculture, education, public safety, and technology.

A Look at the Numbers in Georgetown ISD:

  • 37% of 2025 graduates earned an Industry Based Certification (IBC) in their CTE program of study.

  • 89% of high school students are currently enrolled in a CTE course.

  • 98% of current high school students have taken a CTE course.

The district’s state-of-the-art Future Ready Complex, which opened in 2024, serves as a hub for advanced workforce training and collaboration with local industry partners. The facility houses classrooms, labs, and workspaces designed to mirror real-world environments, giving students hands-on experience and direct connections to employers in Central Texas.

As a CTAT District of Distinction, Georgetown ISD continues to expand opportunities that empower students to explore their interests, develop skills, and graduate ready for college, career, and beyond.
