GISD Earns State’s Highest Fiscal Accountability Rating for 2025

Georgetown Independent School District received a rating of “A” for “Superior Achievement” under Texas’ School FIRST (Fiscal Integrity Rating System of Texas) financial accountability system. The “Superior Achievement” rating is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of Georgetown ISD financial management.

“I'm proud of the district's effort to maintain an ‘A’ rating and follow the priorities set by the Board of Trustees to accomplish a balanced budget and significant compensation increases to staff,” Superintendent Dr. Devin Padavil said. “I am thankful to our staff for making the necessary sacrifices to bring our community a low tax rate, balanced budget, and competitively compensated teachers.”

Georgetown ISD has a long-standing reputation for superior financial performance. In addition to the Superior rating on School FIRST, Georgetown ISD maintains a rating of “Aa2” from Moody’s and “AA” from S&P Global ratings, indicating very low credit risk and a strong capacity for financial commitments. The district also boasts one of the lowest tax rates in Williamson County.

“For GISD to once again receive a strong FIRST rating reflects our district’s continued commitment to responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources,” Board President James Scherer said. “Our community expects excellence not only in the classroom but also in how we manage our finances, and this rating affirms that Georgetown ISD continues to meet those high standards.”

The primary goal of School FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of the school district's financial resources. Information regarding the report was shared by the district’s Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Hanna during a Public Hearing on October 20.
