Georgetown ISD Honored with two awards from TASBO for Excellence in Financial Management and Purchasing

Georgetown ISD has been recognized as one of only 34 school districts in Texas to receive the 2026 Award of Excellence in Financial Management from the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO). The distinction highlights GISD’s commitment to sound financial practices, transparency, and innovative fiscal reporting.

GISD is also one of just three school districts in Central Texas to earn this honor, underscoring the district’s leadership among its regional peers.

The TASBO Award of Excellence in Financial Management recognizes school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education service centers across Texas that demonstrate professional standards, best practices, and innovations in financial management and reporting. Districts must submit extensive documentation across multiple key areas, including budgeting, controls, cash management, and financial reporting, and undergo a rigorous peer review process.

“It’s an honor to be recognized with this award, which reflects the hard work and dedication of our business services team and district leaders,” said Superintendent Devin Padavil. “Sound financial management directly supports student success and allows us to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars while planning for a sustainable future.”

The district’s purchasing office was also recognized with the 2026 Award of Merit in Purchasing, designed to recognize Texas school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education services centers that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services.

TASBO will formally recognize GISD and other award recipients at a reception on Feb. 25 during the TASBO annual conference in Grapevine.
