Georgetown ISD Education Foundation Awards More Than $70,000 in Spring Grants

The Georgetown ISD Education Foundation brought excitement to campuses across the district on May 7 as the Prize Patrol hit the road, surprising teachers at 8 campuses with grant awards to bring innovative ideas to life. In total, the Foundation awarded 21 grants totaling $70,867—fueling programs designed to enhance student learning in creative and meaningful ways.

From STEM tools to literacy initiatives and hands-on projects, the awarded grants reflect the district’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and empowered learning for students and staff. The Foundation hosts two grant cycles each year to support educators in thinking beyond curriculum basics, and this spring’s awards pushed the Foundation’s total investment in GISD to more than $1.2 million since its inception.

“The energy today was incredible,” said Carl Illig, vice president for the foundation. “These grants aren’t just about dollars—they’re about empowering teachers to dream big and showing students what’s possible.”

The Prize Patrol, complete with music provided by the East View High School drum line, sweet treats for winners, and oversized checks, created unforgettable moments across GISD.

“This is what community support looks like,” said Superintendent Dr. Devin Padavil. “We are thankful for the Foundation’s ongoing investment in our schools and for making today a celebration of innovation and impact.”
