Georgetown ISD Announces New Principal for Carver  Elementary

The Georgetown Independent School District announced Charlotte Young as the new principal to lead George Washington Carver Elementary School.

Young has served as assistant principal at Carver Elementary since the start of the 2023-2024 school year, working with grade-level teams to improve Professional Learning Community (PLC) processes that include data analysis, collaborative creation of formative assessments, and alignment of standards to instruction, assessment, and intervention.  She also facilitates the campus Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) and Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) program.

As principal, Young will lead campus transformation into a learning organization aligned to GISD beliefs, ensure actions and behaviors support the mission of GISD and advance the campus toward the vision of being home of the most inspired students, served by the most empowered leaders. Charlotte will align systems and processes to support the implementation of the core work of designing engaging work and leading students to success in that work and in the growth of the attributes of the Learner Profile. She has more than 12 years of experience in public education, serving as assistant principal in Georgetown and Round Rock ISDs. Before that, she taught elementary education and served as a PLC team lead, mentoring new teachers in Round Rock ISD.

Young holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas State University and a bachelor’s degree in Applied Learning and Development - Elementary Education from The University of Texas – Austin.

Young is native to the Austin area and has lived in Round Rock with her husband, William, for more than twenty years. Their family includes a son, Isaiah, who is a senior, and a 5th grade daughter Ava, nephew Joseph, two-year-old grand-niece Journee and family dog Prince. She loves math, reading, writing, and all things trivia. She enjoys playing games, traveling, watching TV and movies, and hanging out with family and friends.

Charlotte will officially transition into her new role on April 2 as outgoing Carver Principal Tosha Vanmetre transitions to the principal role at Forbes Middle School.
