Four GISD Campuses honored with 2025 Counseling Award
Four campuses in Georgetown ISD have been recognized with the CREST (Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas) award from the Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA) for their outstanding counseling programs: Benold Middle School, Forbes Middle School, Tippit Middle School and Williams Elementary School.
TSCA began their CREST program in 2005 to recognize schools that demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives and achievement of students using the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.
“Our school counselors are consistently evaluating and adjusting implementation of their comprehensive programming to meet the needs of our students,” GISD Coordinator for Counseling Services Amy Rodriguez said. “They continue to prioritize student wellbeing in order to provide the best support for academic, social, and career development.”
In 2021, Tippit Middle School and Georgetown High School became the first GISD campuses to receive this honor.
Tippit Middle School has now received this award for five years running, marking an incredible achievement for the campus. Benold and Forbes are now in their fourth year of earning the CREST award, and Williams Elementary is being recognized with this honor for the first time this year.
CREST looks at the counseling program in five categories:
Introduction to the School and the Role of the Professional School Counselor
Program Implementation Cycle
Foundational Components
Four Service Delivery Components
Program Curriculum
“Our school counseling programs do incredible work across the district every day,” Rodriguez said. “We are so proud to showcase this work and highlight how school counseling professionals support the student experience.”
