GISD Student Advisory Council Kicks off Year Three

The 2025-26 Student Advisory Council is officially off and running! On Thursday, 42 student leaders representing East View High School, Georgetown High School and Richarte High School met as a group for the first time.

“You have the opportunity to represent the students across our schools, influence the decisions of our district, and build relationships with students across Georgetown ISD,” Dr. Devin Padavil told students ahead of their first meeting.

Initially formed in 2023, the council works directly with district leadership to provide meaningful insights into the GISD student experience. At monthly meetings, council members lead open, authentic discussions around issues affecting students.

“I want to be a voice for the students who don’t know that they have one,” GHS Junior Presley Zaehler said. “This council gives me a chance to advocate for people who want change, but don’t know how to make it.”

Members will meet at various locations throughout the year and will hear from influential leaders across the district and community.

“Pouring into these young people as leaders and listening to their voice makes this one of the most valuable experiences,” Dr. Padavil said. “They help me understand the student perspective and things we can do to help keep Georgetown an incredible school district.”
