Georgetown ISD to Celebrate Bike and Roll to School Day May 8

At a city council meeting Tuesday night, Georgetown City Council issued a proclamation declaring May 8 as Bike and Roll to School Day. Students in Georgetown will join those from all over the U.S. biking, rolling, or walking to school. The annual event aims to increase student physical activity, reduce traffic congestion, and help the environment.

“We are excited to have students embrace active commuting on Bike and Roll to School Day,” Superintendent Dr. Devin Padavil said. “It’s an opportunity to work closely with our local public safety officials and educate the community on safety awareness in school zones.”

The event is being organized by Georgetown ISD with assistance from the City of Georgetown. School staff and members of the Georgetown Police and Fire departments will be in school zones to greet families and promote safety.
